222 and MisterHP

My comments were misunderstood. I in no way was attempting to say it was unfair. Too me that was a great thing done and the kind of thing that most consumers like to see. I even believe you would have posted it if you had pulled less HP with your carb. I appriciated seeing that done, and would have more then likely gone with the lectron over the TM45 for the extra couple horses, however money was the issue and could not pass up the deal I got on my TM45.

Oh no. Didn't think that at all! Someone else stated that it was fair. Just building off of that. You did the right thing.

DJ11,

Even though you run a Mikuni, you're still mostly OK. Just kidding with ya - no one is going to think less of you for going with the Mikuni - it is a personal choice and you have to weigh many factors. The Mikuni is good, and in my case I had heard a lot about it before I bought my Lectron, perhaps I wanted something different, or who knows. I enjoy my carburetor and I'm sure you enjoy yours, and if our paths cross I'm sure we'll hit the trails too.

had em' both, and they are both good carbs. I'm kind of going towards the HV now that I've got a little more experience with it. I'm running an HV48 right now and so far it's been pretty easy tuning. Nice to be able to dial in the powerjet with a turn here or a turn there. Once the needle is on, the power jet is very easy to operate. I'm still learning but so far so good. Yes, the TM's are great carbs and once you work the hard pull out of the spring it's pretty nice. The carb is easy to jet, but not as easy as the HV once you've dialed it in. Yes, dialing it in can be a head scratcher, especially for those who were born with the traditional carb in the crib.

If there was a down side to the HV, I'd say that it would have to be the availability of parts. You can't go down to the cycle shop and get a needle or a power jet. Then again, once you do have it, you won't have to go down there.

I'd really like to see the dyno/battle of the 48's. My guess is that the HV would win out based on the fact that there isn't one drag racer in the pro ranks (cycle) running a bank of TM's. You guessed it, all Lectrons.

Can you imagine the pull of 4 TM's?????? good grief!!!! That race team could employ Hightower just to tweak springs!
