ok...12.8v ..off..
started it 14ishv idled for 1 hr and stayed aroind 13v...but when fan and lights come on dropped down to low 12..if i shut lights goes up and when fan stops goes back up...does this sound like it is fixed....

Sounds like it's charging to me. The fan and lights will pull the volts down. Sounds like it is doing right to me.

All you need to do is start the engine and while the engine is running carefuly disconect the positive batery terminal ( be sure not to touch it to ant metalic Parts ) if the engine stops running then the atv is running off the batery ie: the charging system has a fault or failed.

I knew you could do that with a car, but I didn't know if a rectifier would do the same or not.

I dont think that works on the ds...some one else said that does not work on the ds

Check stator pick up assembly, my bike was shutting down, and then starting up as if it's trying to buck me, I thought it was CDI, But mechanic at Power Toys, narrowed it down to "Stator pick up assembly". $125.00 plus there Labor fee's. Every bike problem is diffrent, but I'm just putting in an Idea that may be an aquation.
