Default 02 DS90 4Stroke electric start

Just picked up a 2002 DS90 4 stroke for my daughter today. Started it 3 times at the guys house. When I got it home it will only start manually. When you turn the key and press the start button nothing happens, like its got no battery power. I don't even know how to get the seat off to get to the batty to test it. Maybe there is a safety switch I am forgetting to turn on? Its in neutral, gas is on, cant figure it out please help. Also its missing the gas cap vent tube, can I just buy a new tube or am I going to have to buy a whole new gas cap? Anywhere online I can download the owners manual?

Pull in the brake handle and see if it has the safety switch on it. Vent tubes are fairly cheap, you shouldn't need the whole cap.

Not sure on the download, just be prepared to find out it really is made by another company and rebadged as a Bombardier. The 2006 250 I had was a SYM (taiwan), so I'd guess that might be the brand.

Scootergptx- Thanks for the reply, is that switch on the front or rear brake handle? All I seen on the rear brake was a lever to lock it in (like a parking brake). Any clue on how to get to the battery so I can test it?

Looks like the 2002 was made by Eton. Not a bad company and definitely not one of the cheaper chinese knockoffs.

Want to say it's the left handle.

Also want to say the battery should be under the seat. I'll check on that to be sure.

Could also be under the left rear fender.

Going by what I had, which was a different model.

Standing at the back of the quad, in the middle part of the rear fender, look under there for a rod that would unlock the seat.

Don't have mine anymore or I'd try to get a picture of it for you.

Glad to here it is not a Chinese knock off quad. I almost bought a brand new one before visiting the forum and hearing all the horror stories. Glad I didn't, just hope I can figure out how to get this electric start to work, my daughter cant start it with the pull start.

Think I just gave you the seat release location for my kfx. On the ds, it was on the left had side of the seat, not quite to the back. If I remember right, there was a small indentation on the plastic so you could get your fingers under it. I think.

Just to be safe, I know another one we had, the release was on the back end of the seat, just up under the lip.

Pretty sure one of those should work for you.
