I went to Sand Mountain, Utah this weekend after a 60 mile run on the Piute trail. It was my first trip out since I aquired it. What a perfect ride for me @6'5 and 250. I was really impressed with the suspension over big jumps and whoops. I went over stuff that my old 440ex would have hurt me on. Now the problem is when I modded the 440ex I also did my neighbors he kicked my a** going up the big hill and badly. These thing are plain heavy I am going to have to do a lot of mods to get the performance level I want. The DS is not unbeatable on a steep hill.

It could have been as simple as loss of traction.

Youl be suprised at how well the DS responds to simple mods. It wouldnt take much to whoop that 440 EX

Add the Edelbrock Qwiksilver Carb you will have to take off in second and all most sit on the handlebars to keep the front end down. You might want to add HD valve and clutch springs. The only time I have had trouble with 400ex is when they had better shocks and could get jump on me in the woops.

Yep, I am the neighbor and I did beat him. That weekend was the first time I have been on a DS 650 and I think it feels great. I know Air, so I am sure his DS will be modded very soon. I have heard and read that the DS is very responsive to engine mods and I cant wait to ride it then.
Anyway, Air, it was a great weekend at the dunes. But remember in the sand or the dessert, if you beat the 440ex then I will just break out the banshee..... LOL

Let ma get ahold of your motor Air, you won't have to worry about the Banshee either. [that is unless the Banshee is 500cc's or more, or on alcohol. Then it could be a tight run.]

Everything I sell can be bought as parts or fully assembled except for the 760 kits. The 760's require certain unique steps be taken in the build up proccess that makes it more difficult than a standard motor. I could sell these kits as parts only, but would not hold any responsability for any part of the motor if done that way. I would also have to charge for test assembly anyway.

add the stage 1 kit with 17:37 gears and 21" rear tires and you are set. Run paddles up the mountain also Air. Hope this helps.

17 and 37 with 21" tires and just a stage I? That would give you a pretty good top end when you finally get to it, but you wouldn't exactly be a rocket ship up to the top end.
