Engine engages when connecting battery
#1
Hello all.
I bought a Chinese quad a few months back used. I went a got a new battery for the atv and when I went to hook it up. The atv try’s to start up on its own. I’m by no means a mechanic and this is my first atv. I ended up getting frustrated and installed a kill switch for the battery. So when I depress the button that I installed and hit the throttle the atv will work but will not idol. I have to press the button again and hit the throttle anytime I want to ride it again. Lights don’t work because the battery is not engaged. It almost feels like the electrical is not working at all on the atv. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Your solenoid has stuck in the engaged position get a new one, and you won't need the kill switch for battery.
Other problem is probably dirt in carb, but fit a new plug first, that may be all it needs to run right.
