Hey Shady Rascal how was your trip to the dunes this past weekend? Is the Egin Lakes camp area open yet or is it still shut down? Did you and BabyMoose get together and rip the sand up?

Hey Sixtoe, we'll chalk this one up to "making memories". In other words, things went wrong! Friday morning we headed out for a big ride, me and the boys, and Ajay burned up a piston right smack at the bottom of Devil's Dune. As far from camp as you can get. Holding the thing pinned, peak rpm over and over, I grabbed him and told him you better shift that thing or you're going to weld it together, and that's just what he did. So we spent a few hours getting it out, then Ty's was running worse and worse, pipe turning all kinds of colors, so we had but one wheeler--mine. Ty's it turns out looks to be an air leak at the reed cage. Ajay's is apart now waiting for a piston to come in. Met up with Baby moose on Friday, he drove all night to get there. We got to ride a couple of times together before Ty's blaster became unrideable. He's a nice guy--let the boys run around camp on his big ol' DS. I said aw crap and loaded 'em up Friday night, headed home. Sand was real soft, and I could only get about halfway up Choke Cherry. It was shameful. But we got some pix and videos, and a few hours of riding in. All was not lost. Got to see a big mature cougar on the way home outside of Salmon, got within 50 feet of him. Now to get everything running before the 27th!!

Oh I forgot--Egin wasn't open for camping yet, and the "triangle" by the road is posted--no trespassing. I was afraid of that after Memorial when there were a million people on that little spot. Desert oasis is coming along--growing some grass, etc. We stayed there, dry camped for $10 a night.

Sounds like you had a rough time, that's to bad. I hope we have a better luck but you can never tell what will happen. What was the weather like? I hope it isn't so ungodly hot when we get there next week?

Weather was nice, not too hot. Supposed to cool a bit this weekend here, 70's, don't know about next week. I don't see any real hot predictions yet. We still had fun even with the meltdown. Just wish we coulda got a few more hours in first...

Wow, sounds like a tough trip. Also, good to know about the Egin Lakes situation. Hope your next trip turns out better.
