I have to admit, mechanical drums are pretty stone age. But they do work great!! Never a problem with a Honda quads drum brakes, just smaller XR's 200 and below do they become a pain by sticking, squeeking and failing in the water. I really wish honda put disks on the rubicon as I havent put a set of pads on any of my XR's that have disk brakes yet.

For any of you that have the AP Stik Gards on your Rubi, make sure to check the clearance with your wheels cranked fully to the left and right. After installing mine, I went on a ride, and noticed that every time I turned fully to the left, I would hear a metal on metal sound. Heck, I thought the front end was going out. After closer inspection, I found that the left gard was rubbing on the inside of the rim. It wore a nice little groove in it too. I ground about 1/4" off of that corner, and no more problem.
