They really slapped the face of Honda

Muddy4life, I enjoyed debaiting with you earlier, but your a dam idiot! Everything you say you act like it is factual, it is a opinion son! Like saying Polaris WILL take over sales....you or I do not know who will come out on top year after year. I could sit and go into debth on why certain brands will appeal more to a cerain type of rider but I feel it would be like farting in a whirlwind. I will tell you there is a few definate better brands than others do to the fact that they appeal in all ares of the line-up, and Honda is one of them even tho you think they are on the level of a cannondale.

Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics even if you win your still retarded. LOL but its still fun.
As for the drum brakes if their so bad why do you still find them on tractor trailers? If they can stop those things they'll stop a quad. Riding in nothing but mud is boring, my 02 rancher has not even had the drums pulled or the brakes adjusted since buying it new. Allthough i will admit it probably only has about 1000miles on it.

I think people are telling you your an idiot because you have turned this thread into a life's passion.
Read and try to understand...an editorial from any publication is virtually worthless in today's society - most people don't pay much attention to opinionated representation. If your idol really wanted to make a difference, it would be better spent putting a market survey together from all the members on this site and then getting this info into the hands of Honda's product development and sales organization. Do you really believe this site can do much to hurt Honda or any other manufacturer? Seriously...what is the point of this thread? It isn't going to change one person's mind about anything. It is as worthless as the editorial that prompted it.

Why does everyone think Honda is the only company that has machines that look alike in their lineup? Granted, I don't approve of the '05 400EX getting the same looks as the 450R, as I think they should be totally different looking like they are performing. But somebody mentioned how Yamaha distinguishes the looks of their models. Give me a good example of that. If you put a YFZ 450 next to a Raptor 660 and next to a Raptor 350, they are pretty close and at a glimpse you would not know the difference. They also made the Raptor 80 to look like them also. How about Polaris, which of the Sportsman series can you tell apart from one another by looking at them? Only way is the decal on the side of the gas tank. Is there any Arctic Cats or Bombardier models that look the same? I think so. They all do it.
Another thing you see a lot of is companies that use the same frame and drop different engines into it and they have a new model. Or sometimes they will bore the engine bigger and now they have a new model also. At least when Honda updates their models, they put a lot of R&D into it. If they increase the engine power, they beef up the bottom end and a lot of other places to handle the extra power. The CRF450R engine was known to have short term reliability problems. You didn't see Honda slap that same engine into the 450R. They totally re-engineered it to make it hold up in a quad. They do that with everything they update. rooster

Here's my complaint on drum brakes. They work great while going forward. They work awful going backward. I came close to being killed on my Honda Foreman because I couldn't get it stopped from rolling backward off a cliff. The technical reason for the different performance going forward vs. backwards is because drum brakes have "leading shoes", which cause the drum to try and pull the shoe into the drum, thus increasing the stopping capability. As I understand it, two of the Honda Foreman's three drum brakes have the leading shoes in the forward direction. The back brake, I believe, has its leading shoe on the reverse direction. Thus, the Foreman's brake effectiveness is definitely less in the reverse direction. Disc brakes have no such direction preference, and that's why I want them. Just my opinion, of course.

We're all a bunch of idiots why don't we just force the manufacturers give us option packages like car manufacturers do? Get something as simple or as decked out as you want? Start out with the base model, a standard frame, suspension and engine, then get the 4X4, locker, selectable 4wd, what kind of insturment cluster you want, tire selection. Ect.
Expeditioner i know of the leading shoe thing but i havn't had any problems like that with mine yet. But i'll be watching out for it.

Bill, please stop. I'm afraid that if Honda reads this thread, they will be ashamed of the garbage they've been producing, and get out of the ATV business altogether. Then what would we buy? Personally, the day Honda stops selling ATV's is the day I will denounce ATV's completely. What is the point in riding if you can't ride a Honda? Just seems pointless to me. I pray every night that Honda doesn't read this thread.
