The rancher will fit in a 6ft bed if you place 2 car ramps up front for the front tires to climb up on.
I carry a Rancher in my 98 mazda B-4000 and can still close the tailgate with the ramp method.

Easy as others mentioned, mine fits in my 8' SD bed and I have a 12" toolbox from TSC. I tie mine down differently from most. I have a cable attached to the trailer hitch(with a clevis), then a hook on the bed side. the hook grabs one of the holes around the atv's trailer hitch. It's sort of custom fit because the slack it takes up will work for my KQ and Rancher. It leaves me about 2" from the toolbox. I have to take the multi-mount winch off but that's not a problem. After locking the brakes this is all I have. The atv won't go forward, if it goes back the tires hit my rubber tailgate mat. I'm not worried about bouncing out a 550-600# atv. I would be in more trouble if I was worried about that. Simple, strong and I don't have nasty straps tied everywhere. And I don't clown around with an ATV in the back.

Good Luck,
Rob

Explain that one to me. I think you should re read my post. You missed something. I bet my 5/16" cable will do a better job than your 1" Chinese ratchet strap.

No I dont need to re read a thing.....my straps are made in the usa and one on each corner does more to hold my quad in place than that one cable that doesnt put any pressure on a thing.
If you were to ever have to hit the ditch to avoid a head on...... your quad will be upside down on the road being drug behind you if its still attached to your hitch at all.
Cable cuts easy.....................good luck with your method of tieing your quad down though.
