reconranger seems to be the one to talk to. i will try not to respond to any more help treads. you seem to have it covered there recon. but i like the last word too a blown seal at the track,will end your day too! and if ya dont notice the seal ,guess it would not be long till the tranny bearings are toast hay?

crusty-I appreciate your comments! But, being a track rider who is never more than a few hundred yards from a pit, is nothing like being a desert racer 50 miles from any help whatsoever (District 38 race a couple of weeks ago........the temp was 108 degrees!) Of the two "evils", I think running a little extra is the lesser, and the option most likely to get the average rider home.

Which seals are prone to blowing??? I have heard of several guys blowing the seal between the engine and trans, but I can't recall what happended that was bad in that case, if anything. As I recall, the two just mixed (might be a good reason to run an engine oil in the trans?).

Again, the trans problems are usually experienced by bike riders who are on the pavement, so the bike isn't getting knocked around enough to splash those gears that are high and dry.
