Default trx 300 one way clutch

i have a 89 trx 300. ive narrowed my problem down to the one way clutch on the crank. do i have to buy the complete unit or is there a repair kit? the atv will spin freely with no piston movement on the starter. it will kickstart ONE kick and then all kicks after the first one will have no piston movement. if i wait and repeat the scenario with the kickstart i get the same result. thanks in advance

I am no expert at all but I did replace my one way clutch when it was bad. I have NEVER heard of a one way clutch keeping the electric start from working. The kick start will not work but the electric start should definitly still work.

i think the electric does work but this one way clutch spins both ways and doesnt engage the crank, the same goes for the kick start. in themselves, they work as they are supposed to but this clutch is preventing from turning the crank. i found a used one ebay for ten buck complete ill see if it works. thanks for the reply though

I may not have been plain on my first reply but even though my one way clutch was shot, I could still start the engine with my starter. I could start the engine and ride it. But not with the kick starter. The kick starter would just spin without engaging the engine. When I would turn off the motor you could hear the one way clutch spinning and winding down.

I also bought my replacement off of ebay for about 25 bucks. It has been on for a year now and so far so good.
