Cool Lost front wheel drive

had wifes 2000 350 es out for a ride, trip started with lots of ratchet sound clicks and then no front wheel drive. went to talk to honda parts buddy, he says weak point is where drive shaft slides on transmission. wears spline and eventual failure. this piece is worth cdn approx $200.00 ,driveshaft worth cdn $800.00. he says pull it off and take it to him for checking. will have to fit this project into schedule, good part is cdn $ is worthless so it could be a cheap fix.. any thoughts on this.

It's all relative. 99% of currencies are rubbish, so it just balances out.

Yes the TRX350 , 400FW , and 450 Foreman all will let water/dirt in the joint where it wears the splines on both the joint & drive shaft .. Those numbers sound high , phone a different Honda dealer and ask for a price on the drive shaft assy. the part number should be 40400-HN5-N00 .. Here is a picture of it part #5 ......

If it is the shaft splines and all else is ok, might be a good time to just get a Warn 424???

Thumbs up

If i have to replace the diff i will give the 424 serious thought, i have heard that they are more reliable then the honda unit. like the idea of shifting between 2 and 4 wheel drive.

What "Honda unit" you talking about????

The 424 replaces the drive shaft...it has nothing to do with the differential itself. In the middle, is a disconnector that lets you disconnect the shafts on the engine and diff sides.

Best mod you can make to this machine!

thought the 424 was a front diff, would have to check it out more if its a drive shaft .. shifting between 2 and 4 sounds like a lot to expect from a drive shaft..? will do a search on it..
