Does anyone have any inside information about the new quad Honda is coming out with? They sure are taking their time so it ought to be pretty sweet!

 

I donot know,but I just heard that they moved up the ccs in quad racing. They were 440cc now they are 450cc,this is what honda was waiting for,so lets go honda!!!!!!! I would have to guess a 450 quad sometime soon.Now LETS ALL PRAY TOGETHER$$$$

 

I'm still not holding my breath. As a Honda fan I've spent the last 2 years waiting up past midnight on a work night for the big announcement. What we get last time a couple of ranchers? I thought the cc limit was bumped up too but one of the guys from the AMA that is on this board said it wasn't. The rules meeting or whatever you want to call it came and went and the rule wasn't changed. I don't remember what the username was of the guy from the AMA or if he was even for real but that's what he said. I want to see a new Honda like you wouldn't believe and I think the next big show is in March. I'll be hoping but not getting fired up for anything.

The four stroke MX bike class is limited to 450cc in the 250 class. This is why honda had a crf450, and yamaha made the 426 a 450. If they make the limit smaller Yamaha and honda would have them in court so quick that they wouldn't know what hit them!!

 

It will be called a TRX450R and will have alloy frame electric start and will come out in december, it will not replace the 400EX and Honda has said it will have the best power to weight ratio of any sport quad on the market, this comes from a reliable source from people who have seen it. Honda will not call any new quad an "R". Thats what got them into trouble before......

 

every single year someone hears from a "reliable source" that honda will have a new awesome sport quad comin out and every single year it NEVER HAPPENS. and year after year everyone always believes it. and i just cant figure out why

Oh yeah?? Well, I heard from a reliable source that Honda is actually making 2 new High Performance machines... One for the 4 stroke Class based on the 250R geometry with the CR450 motor, and the other machine is an all out dune runners dream... A CR500 based dune quad with 14" of travel front and rear.... the theory is to use up all the left-over CR500 parts since production has halted on the big bike too... Both machines are to have electric start, reverse, and a mower attachment! FULL RACE READY MACHINES!!! Both ready for production by Jan 30, and available to the public May 1.... Well, what I have heard, from a salesman that is good friends with an R&D engineer at the Torrance, California Honda ATV design dept. Is that, there are two powertrain possibilities for this new Honda quad coming out.

1. CRF450 motor
or
2. Rincon motor

The CRF450 would be wicked for the track. On the other hand, the Rincon motor would be wicked for the open desert and would smoke the 450 in the open desert. But the Rincon would suck for track. The Rincon dominated and won the Baja 1000 last year, serious proof that it's a awesome motor.

So, depends on what kind of riding you do, for which motor you would prefer to have. I'm hoping for the Rincon motor, as I never ride track and only the Southwest desert, just like Baja 1000.

 

That is the first I have heard of using the Rincon engine (this thing doesn't even have low speed engine braking!!). Are we talking about a shaft drive sport machine like the KFX700??? Why use a lower tech shaft drive, when they have the venerable desert race proven XR650 motor sitting there on the shelf??
