Default rear drive shift rubber seals?

V force - On the rear drive shift are two black rubber seals Kawie refers to them as Caps parts# 11065-1260.

When I ride they always coming off and they just spin on the drive shaft unit I push them back on…

Have any of you had this problem?

Can I just cut them off or do they do something?

650s don't have em. Loose them if you want.

Default rear drive shift rubber seals?

Im thinking the new P700s have them. Everyone I have seen so far has them. The 02 P650 has the groove for them and I thought about adding them to mine. This is the first I have heard of them coming loose while riding.

I asked a couple of dealers about them and the guys told me they are mud/water shields. Makes sense when you look at them. If I had them I would try to find a way to make them stay on.

nyroc,
Did your bike come with them?

KISSSOFDEATH,
For now I put a zip-tie around them... if they come off again... out come the scissors lol.

naturally a rubber seal is intended to keep dirt and grit out of bearings and bushings......use your judgement

Mine doesn't have it. I guess it isn't needed.

There is a seal inside the side cover. That rubber thing is just a dust cap. Someone told me the seals would last longer without the dust cap, if you get into mud (I forgot who). The 2002 and 2003 Prairies don't have them. The 2004 Prairie and Vforce have them.

Try cleaning them up with something that doesn't leave a residue and use some goop to hold them in place.

Nyroc,

Ok I'll goop and zip-tie them to day... going on of those 125+ mile rides tomorrow... that will be the test.
