how many kms should belt last?
Recently bought a Brute Force 650. Very impressed with the amount of power it has as compared to my old Vinson. Havent heard alot of good things on the belts on the Kawasaki. So I was wondering how many kilometers should it last before the performance is affected. Also I should add that I do drive it a bit hard and haul firewood. ty , Ren

Hey Ren I have a kvf 700 my belt has over 4000 kms on it and it still looks like new.
The trick to belt longevity is to keep the belt nice and tight. After you have 1000 kms on your machine check your belt deflection and adjust it to the tight side of 22mm. I like mine so that it slightly squeals when idling in gear. You also get better performance with a tight belt.
PS I ride and camp with lots of Newfies over here. I have also been" screached in".

I have a KVF 700, I do run my bike hard tow boat trailers into the boonies as well as haul green birch, got my last load in tonight. I have 3500kms on the original belt, I will be checking the deflection this weekend before walleye season opens. When I haul firewood I am always in low gear, when I am trailering the boat off road I also use low gear, I do believe this has helped extend the belt life.
