Default prairie 650 belt service

Hi..I have a prairie 650 with a squeeling belt on take off...is this a job I could tackle myself.?..I am fairly mechanical but have no experiance with these type of belts/clutches..do i need and special tools?..looks like from what I read you need a puller and a tool to lock things when u loosen the belt...appreciate any input..

I absolutely hate turning wrenches and they told me not to worry about this if I buy the Prairie, so I would think you would have no problems with the proper special tools.

My advice is to go ahead and replace it since it's squealing on take off now.I tried tightening mine and I guess it was glazed.A new belt is only $72.00 I believe and now it's the 700 belt which is better.I replaced my first belt at 500 miles for the same reason and now have 1100 miles on this one and have not had the problem anymore BUT I do adjust it once in a while.I am on pace to get 1500 miles out of this belt and it's actually the 650 belt and not the 700 belt.Go to NYROCS site and there is all kind of help there.I made my own puller because the plastic one the guys here made was not so good for me.You will need to go ahead and get some shims. You can wait and see what the factory put in or go ahead and get a 1.0mm,a .08mm and a .06.More than likely it has 2-.06mm shims or a 1.4 like mine did. They were set up on the loose side of the spec from the factory. If you get a new belt then you have a spare for the lone trips where you go out of town.
Good luck
