V-force vs Z-force
#1
My father picked up his new KFX700 on Friday, strange machine. He got a smoking deal on an '04 leftover, so the Scrambler went on trade.
Anyway, he had to race me to prove how much faster it was than my KFX400, only problem for him is that he didn't exactly beat me. Of course his is not broken in yet so maybe that had something to do with it. I knew as soon as I rode it that it was not faster than mine but I didn't tell him that. The races were pretty much dead even. Whoever got the jump off the line pretty much stayed there.
That v-force is one strange ride. You don't even really need brakes with that compression braking. And the front end looks so strange from the seat, it's like looking down at a mini-car hood. It does have a cool sound to it, and gobs of torque.

I'm surprised you beat him actually,,,especially if you are stock.
he either didn't have the grit to keep her pinned,,,or he wasn't getting traction
they are fun bikes,,,,different,,,,but fun

wow, thats really surprising to hear. i thought that the 700 would be really powerful and fast kuz i never rode one and they look pretty sick. i would think that he would beet u by like at least 10 feet, haha. well, i guess i thought wrong. its probably a great quad wen its modded a lil bit though.

I was wondering how the two stack up to one another myself because I'm looking at buying another sport quad by next spring and I'd definitely consider these two.
How much of a sport quad is the V-force really though? It felt kinda akward and bulky when I sat on the seat and I know they're pretty heavy. The ergonomics of the 400 seemed perfect, but I don't like manual clutches (see my post in the drivetrain section).
I figure the KFX700 will probably walk away from a 400 in a drag race but I'm betting it doesn't even come close in the handling department.
I hope this thread keeps going because I'd really like to know how they compare to one another. I've got a good 7 months or so to decide what I'm gonna do!

They are both great bikes in their own ways. If your looking into MX racing, the z400 wouls be the way to go. It comes stock with great suspension and light weight. The 700 is more of a fun trail bike that's very comfortable in most occaisions except for MX. The stock suspension is no where near the level of the 400's and when you add all that weight to the weak suspension, you get a bike that bounces over the whoops and gets out of controll when pushed too hard. I use mine for trail riding and could not be happier with it. I was getting tired of my cousins predator passing me by on the drag races so I decided to modd it with the items below. Now it has no problem keeping the preddy behind it. Like I said though, they are both great bikes as long as you use them for their intended purpose.

the 700 must not have been getting traction because I can beat my buddies 400 anytime. Drag and top end I beat him on my 700. The only time the 400 gets ahead of me is on a gravel road right at the start because the v just spins out for a while. Both fun machines, but the 700 is faster.

Is your 400 stock? My V with paddles in the sand beats almost any bike for the first 100 feet. With traction the V smokes my buddies 400 up the hill everytime. Remember that the rider in the race always makes a huge difference. Let your dad ride that thing for a while than race him, he might feel better than. The 700 is just fun though. I think everyone that rides it thinks that. Not the best in most things but just plain fun.
