Took the brute out for the first time today
What a fun quad! This thing has tons of power compared to the old 650. Did some hill climbs (steep too) with no problem. Front end seems a little lighter on hills than the prairie but that even makes it more fun. I was having a blast in the mud shooting roosters all over everyone even in the back from the front. Got it stuck bad, real bad. Two 2wds hooked together couldn't pull me out. Had to go get a come along to get it out. All together two thumbs up. Great bike I would suggest it to anyone. I'm now thinking about a winch but maybe some suggestion would help. I don't want to weight the front end down becaues I love to wheelie this thing. Any suggestions? Are they heavy and what's a good one?

No need for a winch, unless, you are doing some extremely deep stuff.
Anyways, just get a good set of mudtires like ITP Mudlite XTR, good tires. Also, aftermarket wheels with a wider offset would help its stability more and should help it powerlside better.
Stock tires are junk!

Did you buy the quad new? If so you might be able to get a deal on a warn winch. If not, check ebay it will probably be your best price. I have the warn 2500lb on my brute and love it. Ive used it quite a bit, not always for being stuck, but for other things around home. Plus, if you ever get a plow you can use it for that too. Good luck trying to get the smile off your face from that machine, Ive still got mine.

Congrats on the new ride man! I still have a blast when I take mine out, and I got 550 miles on it! I would recommend a whench just for that easy out situation. I have a 2500 Lb. and I can still wheelie easy. When you put bigger tires/wheel kit, you will notice it will be harder to pull up into a wheelie.

I didn't want the added weight on from of my BF and I installed my 2500i winch in the rear of the ATV - just behind the gear case on to the tube frame. I had to fabricate my own mounting plate out of 1/4" aluminum plate and used a few U clamps to hold it down to the frame. Then I installed remote switch in the back of the ATV as well in addition to the handlebar switch.
