Default Black springs PBR vs. EPI

I would not worry if you get it from penland or EPI. I have the EPI springs and they kick butt. I really didn't notice the black spring to much.It made the take off a little quicker and it just seemed to have more power all the way around. But the RED spring is the really big difference. It takes away from your top end as far as I can tell. The bike seems to have major power all the way to 55 mph but then it seems to kind of start signing off. But down low the thing is a tourque monster. It wheelies without any problem at all. In low it will flip you over if you get to crazy. The RED spring makes the takeoff more abrupt in low and reverse. you will notice it when you first put it in. But give it some time and you wont really care. In high range its not really a factor at all. In closing there cant be that much of a difference between the springs. I'd say the Penland springs are from EPI he just puts his name on them and marks them up a bit. Go with the EPI they are easy to get and I got mine in 4 days No hassles at all

I had the red spring in for a very short time, but took it out due to it's harsh engagement. The power is definitely there when you hammer the throttle with the red. If I was a serious mud bogger or hill climber, I would have the red in, but most of my riding is technical trails with rock crawling and log hoppin.

Encore has the answer, put one in for the mud etc., and then pull it out for everyday cruising. You don't have to remove the drive clutch to install it anyways. It will take you longer to take the cvt cover off than it will to change the spring.

Alltoys...Not yet! I am waiting on Bearman's CDI to come out before I do anything else. I would like to try the cams but without a new CDI I think the cams would only get me to 50 or so a little faster. It is not that I want to go 70, I just want to keep accelerating if I want to and I think a new CDI is the only remedy.

According to Chad at EPI the Black and Red spring combo shouldnt make you loose any top speed. I have yet to test mine for top speed. I agree with vance650, the red spring is where all the power and difference comes from.

My brother and I both have 650's with 25 inch 589's on them. This coming weekend we are going to test them thogether and see what the difference is with the red and black springs installed. I have both in his doesn't. We have run down the road BEFORE I put my springs in and they were both dead even all the way to the top end.So we will get out this weekend and find out what the deal is with the springs. As soon as we find out I will write and let you all know the results. But I already know one result my brother WILL be putting them in after SAT.

I really do not think I lost any top speed with the spring combo. Just a few days ago I hit 64 on pavement. I have never been any faster than that!

Has anyone with the red/blk spring combo raced a Grizz with the Highlifter HD Clutch Kit.
I put one in for my buddy I ride with, wondering if I need it to keep up now?

Steelhead...I have! And I win 10 out of 10 times. (He is still a little faster a top end)

I have a good friend that has a 660Griz and he has tried many things but nothing works. The 650 with the red/black combo just jumps off of the line! The Griz is no threat!
