Default P650 Camouflage

Just got my 2003 a month ago and would disagree with the plastic being brittle. I have had it out in very cold temps. One thing I do not like is the fit of the small cover underneath the handlbars that covers the radiator cap. The fit is very poor. I tried bending the metal support underneath slightly to change it's shape without a lot of success. In the parts diagram, the small cover is not offered separate. My thought is to have the dealer replace the plastic. My air cleaner / front fendor gap does not line up well either as in previous replys. sounds like this is common. Overall, I love the camo color and it sure hides dirt and mud well.

I have the Camo. Got it a few days before Christmas. Had some girl tag me a little in the left rear and just snapped the fender off about 4-5 inches into the camo from the black mud flap. It was 22 deg, so I figured it was just to cold for the fender. I didn't hear anything about this stuff till this post. I thought I was just a lucky fella since it was only 2 days old when she whacked me. When I replace it in a week, a nice rear bumper will be installed since the stock exhaust stopped her from breaking off more. After the new (Big Gun)exhaust & Warn 3000 winch was installed this weekend that bumper is a for sure thing.

So basically I don't know if the plastic should of bent or just broke like glass like it did. Sure shocked me!

SPEAKING of plastic. I just realized that my new BLACK plastic is NOT falling apart like the original stuff did! I have no basis for this claim, other than I have put 300 miles on the new stuff in the woods, and it is still intact! I near totaled my P-650 in Oct '02. I have to assume that the new black plastic is of a different "recipe"!

StreetRod: I see the camo plastic for the P650 on ebay all the time for around $200.

That's an interesting thing that happened to you. I wonder if it was related to the camo plastic or the cold. I'll be putting bumpers on mine, so hopefully it will be a non issue.

Kawidan I have a camo 650 and there is no difference in the plastic. in fact you look under the fender youll see that the fenders are green to start with and the camo is sprayed on some way or another
