Post 1 for this adventure

Removed crankcase and it was full of mud. The front clutch is OK after cleaning, however the rear was locked up and the clutch pads were worn to the metal. The clutch housing (drum) is extremely pitted. Should I attempt to have it turned or just clean and sand as best possible. Has anyone successfully done this?

My next thing would be to replace the rear clutch if I can't fix this one. Just the parts from my local dealer were over$400.00. I didn't pay byt $200.00 for the bike.

Tell me ( and us) your best solutions for repairing and cleaning clutches.

Thanks

Jawtech

I see it as $230 (approx) for post, bearings, sliding face, clutch pack, and hub (all new). That should be all that's needed.

LT80 you are great to reply!! I have been in the hospital with minor surgery and just got back to the computer. I called my local dealer and ordered the parts today. Their prices were close to those at the place you sent me so I decided to give the local boys a chance.

I'm questioning my decision to buy this quad. I may look for one that is running and part out this one or take this one all the way down and royally trick it out. My boys can't wait to ride so this building process is not for them.

I sure have learned alot. I bought a manual and read it all day yesterday while sitting in the bed. I believe I could rebuild one now if I had the tools and the parts! Just not nearly as perfectly as you!

Thanks
