Cleaned the carb and adjusted the throttle for a slight improvement. Hole shot is non existent, mid range and top end is not where it should be. Engine sounds great under no load. Clutch cover is getting really hot and a couple of times I heard a noise possibly coming from the clutch area. Spring binding? Going to re-check everything this evening.

Ya, rear clutch is where your heading.
Could be a bad spring, sliding face binding, or my bet,,, the sheave face has broke off from where it slides.
You did put the big washer in place on the front clutch eh..

Went back to the old belt and everything is working like it should. Low end acceleration is back so I guess I will leave it alone.

Wishful thinking, the noise is back and upon further inspection one of the clutch pins on the sheave was in two pieces. Hopefully a new pin will eliminate the problem.

LOL. It seems to go around..
I pull up to the diesel pump and get excited cuz it's charging me $3.89 instead of $4.09.
I spend $200. to fill it up,then get home to see my fuel tank leaking..
