If you want questions answered by mere "peons" like myself in the Michigan orv community while you and the long-gone(?)author of this thread claim to be immune from same in your super-secret anonymous councils deciding the disposiition of tens of miillions of my dollars...I think that this game of "see, see,see...he didn't answer my question" has definitely run its course.
I'm talking about big money here and the public's right to be involved in that decision making process.
And I think that even the casual observer here can see that un-checked crass insults and the disparaging of one's character has been the obvious strategy deployed for years to prevent just this from ever happening.(whch, as I said before, is the real tragedy here in terms of absolutely no one even half-**** 'professional' willing to come forward and be treated like this...not to mention the fact that the largest trail system in this country has the weakest 4-wheel voice/presence in relation to all others even near its size on account of those rudely playing the gatekeeper in terms of any 'newby' community member involvement).

...andwhy do we get the feeling that this is the same reply you've given every kid or professional person ever attempting to become involved in Michigan orv issues if they didn't learn the 'secret handshake' or accept the fact that there would always be a full-time push to sequester "me-only" trails that they would never see nor ride?
I don't mind disagreeing or even be continually insulted...it's concern for the good people who have been continually turned away for no other reason than having a contrary opinion....who will never be counted.

MWQ,
Thank you.
If I may I would like to address Mr. DragginButt and any one else but specifficly Mr. DB.
The MMRC is not an all out evil organization, according to what they presented to the DNR they are not even an organization, it is an information network between the major ORV organizations in Michigan no matter what they play on or in. As was explained in the ORV Advisory meeting the MMRC does not collect dues nor does it have officers or leaders. It is a think tank of the groups involved to help solve problems. No money is controlled by the MMRC so I don't know where claims of fraud can be placed.
What was proposed at that meeting was to expand some trails to 50 inches and create more 72 inch routes in areas that can support it. Not all of Michigan is sand or rock some area's can not support having a 50 inch or a 72 inch trail, the comprimise is a 24 inch trail, Why? less environmental impact. Want to learn a whole bunch about environmental impact have your state go through Forest Certification and see where you may get to ride.
No where that I can see is Michigan going to expand it's trails to 60 inches, not when we already have 72 inch routes for them to ride on. almost everybody is against this, most of the ORV community in Michigan, The DNR, and the anti's. The MMRC even went so far as to suggest that the 72 inch routes be linked together and expanded on, throughout the entire state, not just in one crowded area.
As for the side by sides; A dealer in Mecosta is getting them approved street legal by adding the material needed to make it classified as a dune buggy. License plate and all.
more expanded riding area's now because with a street license they can take to the forest roads.
The ORV community just reopened a very popular trail that was looking to be gone forever. But you didn't even hear about it because the focus was on something or someone else.
Two more counties are close to opening their roads to unlicensed ORV use, they would have done so by now but a peice of paper came out of Lansing getting everybody nervous from the office of the Attorney General. But when it was discovered to be a useless piece of paper everybody started to wipe with it and moved forward.
These things have happened this past spring already moved forward and resolved. Why because the evil people in the evil MMRC didn't let one person in Kalamazoo hold them up because they didn't get his approval.
To close I'd just like to let you know, I aint mad at you, Michigan aint a bad place to ride, Damn nice people and real pretty scenery too, You can't get too lost in Michigan, if you run into a big body of water turn around and head in the other direction until you hit another big body of water if you didn't find water your in Ohio. Besides that you should alway have a map HANDY !!!
Thank you.

1st, I would like to say,THANK YOU, MWQ.Now maybe we can talk about Michigan and some of the positive things that have been done.Like county roads that are now open and others that will be open soon. And the 750 mile of trail that are coming.Sure we dont know excactly where they are all going yet, but they are coming.
2nd, I'd say theotherguy jsut about said it all and right on target.I posted something simaler a couple months ago in another thread and got blasted by you know who.I have been involved in a couple MMRC meetings and I dont remember any secert hand shake either.
3rd,I think some people like to bitch just to here themselfs talk. It's a shame really, with that much energy and time to waste, you would think something good would come from it.

The positive things that have been done huh? Let's skip back to the negative for a moment. Why was the trail widening legislation shot down again? I think someone here described it as "undersirable".... Someone fill us in on that one.
