400 clutch spring help
Don't listen to those people . They are giving you bad info.
I have a hpd race kit with a hpd Blue primary and a hpd Violet 2nd and 55 grammers in my clutch. I also have a hpd roller clutch shift drum and I believe its a 44-38 angle.
With this set up I pull from the bottom all the way up to the top. I can pull things around with good low power and pull hard and fast top end. AS a matter of fact It DOES 108 M.P.Rs and I know this because I have a GPS and a trail tech. SO believe who you want BUT, I know HPDs system works.SO get that set up and get ready to leave all those banshees behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fixamatt, you need to earn a little respect before coming in here and posting and bashing others that have been on here for a long time. If you read his post you would see he does not have a race pipe on his wheeler, so what you have will not work for him. And the info I give him will not be wrong. Be sure of what you say before saying it. And the blue primary sucks for good acceleration in the race mod stuff. Bubba

The problem your running into is the helix. Recommended helix for a trail mod is 40-36. Having the 32 last number means the clutch slows down on the shifting phase and unloads the motor some. That keeps the rpms up and lessens the acceleration of the machine. The setup you have for the primary is very good as well as the spring in the secondary. I usually end up about 1-1 on the secondary spring setting. If you put the 40-36 helix in it I think your problems will go away. If you have the original helix that came out of the clutch put it in. It will be a straight 40 degree. That would probably do you better than the one you have now. That helix you have would be better for a race mod 250 or a low HP engine that needs to keep the rpms up on top end. Hope this helps, Bubba
