You can probably check with a local dealer. Some neighboring states often times have agreements on registrations. A local licensing office should also have the info...although the government office would probably be closed on the weekend.

As for a compact "back-up" light. Moose Off-road has a series of utility lights, and mounting one of those in a protected manner would work nice.

I'm pretty sure that a mass reg is still good in NH. I would register it in Mass so you can still ride it there, too. They just changed it in Maine, so I have to buy a Maine reg if I want to go to Maine, and they have to buy a NH reg to ride here. So much for reciprocity. Why is my car registration good in Maine but not my atv? Money, thats why. money grubbing politicians. Anyway, Mass will probably change soon, but dont believe its happened yet.
As far as the reverse light, I was told on the sportsman there is a purple and white wire with a female connector on it hanging loose under the hood. (I havent tried it yet) this gets power when the reverse indicator gets lit. I dont know what your machine has for a dash, but if it has any kind of indicator light there is a power wire somewhere that will get hot. It might not be purple/white, but a few minutes with a test light should find it. I plan on putting an in-line fuse or a circuit breaker in when I do mine, because the light I have is a 55 watt fog light, and the machines wiring is probably not that stout. I think the wiring would get too hot with that much current draw if you left it in reverse too long. Of course, you could put it on a toggle switch easy enough, but that would be real easy to leave on and forget about.

there is a dealer at the state line that would definitely know the answer. dont have their number right in front of me, but its called Plaistow Power Sports. they are in the book or you can track the number down from the Yamaha website under dealer search.

where in mass are you,and where in nh do you plan on going?as for the sticker, you cant use a mass registration in nh,it will cost you $73 for a nh sticker and if you get it now its only good till june,nh registration runs from june to june its not good for the whole year..so say you get the sticker in may then it would only be good for a month, kinda stupid if u ask me but thats where they make their money..

Make sure you use a 12 volt RELAY!!!

Any auto parts store will have them. hook the relay to the battery with a fused wire(always hot) and to a good ground. You will have to check your wire you will be using to trip the relay on and off, I think it is open circuit when light is off but provides a ground when in reverse. The relay can be set in energize with a ground trip or with a voltage trip. The relay will pull the 5 amps off the battery for the light instead of the factory wire. A relay will pull less than half an amp from the factory wire to trip the relay.

Hope this helps!

June to June isn't a whole year?

I didnt realize NH had changed and was no longer reciprocal with Mass. Doesnt surprise me though. Anytime the bastards see someone with money to spend (such as recreation) they stick their fingers into it.
