I baught a 2005 Sportsman 500 H.O. (new) about a month ago. I noticed immediately it was a little sluggish taking off from a dead stop. It feels like it is in too high of a gear, or pulling too much weight, or like the brakes are dragging. The brakes aren't dragging, I'm on level ground, and I only weigh 150lbs. Once the tires begin to roll it pulls fine, just the initial take off that is sluggish. If I'm on the slightest incline it really laggs. I have taken it back to the dealer, which told me, " it only has 10 hours on it, so it isn't broke in and it should work it's way out." Does this sound right? I know there is a breakin period, but can it really fix something like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I love the 4-wheeler, the ride, the options, however, disappointed in this only flaw. Please help!!!

The 500ho is a great motor with lots of torque and power. However like all the Polaris atv's the clutching is not agressive from the factory. You can change the primary spring and put a K&N filter in it and you will be smiling for days. Also 10 hrs really is not alot of time for everything to break in. Dont be afraid to get on it.
