Default SP800 vs P700

These are the three quads that I am trying to decide between. I would like to get some first hand knowledge from people concerning these machines. I know that they are pretty different in design and that is why I can't make up my mind. I will be riding in every type of terrain you can imagine, sometimes as fast as I can go and sometimes just checking out the scenery. I am looking to buy one machine that is as close to perfect as possible, I don't mind putting on aftermarket tires but I can't spend alot of money on upgrades for a while.

Please compare these: high & low speed handling, power, acceleration(which one is quicker), reliability, 4X4 system, etc. I would like to have as much info as possible but please do not do any bashing in this thread. Basically I think the P700 is probably the sportier of the three but I don't know how comfortable the ride is. I think the SP800 is probably the more comfortable riding of the three but I don't know how close the sportiness is. The BF is maybe in the middle?

Sorry about adding the BF late but I thought I had removed it from my possiblities, I now realize I should atleast find out some fresh info on it. Thanks in advance

the P700 is deffently the sportyest of the 3, the SP800 has the most torque and best ride of the 3, and the BF is the fastest

but from what your suggesting, i would get the SP800 as it has Fuel Injection, best ride, a nice (not the best) 4x4 system, and has an extremly agressive stock tread pattern.

obviously the jap bikes are the most reliable, but polaris is finnaly starting to get there stuff together.

i would reccomend also looking at the BRP 800 EFI also

I just helped my Dad through this exact comparison, also including the Outlander 800. He decided to go with the BF. Reason being was the price was the best. The Sportsman does ride better but not even close in the handleing department compared to the other 3. Plushness does not equal handleing no matter how you look at it, nor does being too stiff. His Brute does have the ITP C- series 6's with ITP ATP tires on it that made the BF much wider (53.5" rear). The other advantage the 800 SPRT had was it storage. Very nice in that department. The Outlander is the biggest, baddest thing around and I beleive it will prove to be very reliable. The bad thing is it is mega coin to get one. So overal we felt the BF was the closest thing to the Outlander but was a tight race with the 800 SPRT. It was the reliabilty factor that threw the final stone. Poo is getting better, but still have a ways to go reliabilty wise.

I own the 800. I won't speculate on the others. Good ride, good mud protection, good power and speed handling. 800 miles and 800 problems. Bad reliability, poor fit and finish (plastic bushings instead of bearings with no grease fittings)Brake failure at 500 miles, parts falling off. The storage looks good in the showroom but leaks water and mud all over your stuff. I disagree on the 4x4 design statement. I think they have the better design. Terrible customer service with a 6mo warr. Overpriced. Check ot the KingQuad for the money.Ive owned polaris sleds watercraft and wheelers. I will NEVER buy another. My2c

Sorry about your luck Bionic but I have owned Polaris sleds and Atv's as long as I have owned Yammy's, Suzy's and Ski DOO .... I think Polaris has come a long way and their products are as reliable as anything else out there....They definitely got the Cadillac ride down and will out mud all of the competition... I have 600 miles of 265 pound abuse on my 800 and have had 0 problems - none - zilch..... I have put this thing through a swamp, 4 ft. jumps, and groom my buddies moto cross jumps and burms with a 60' plow at his track regularly..... Maybe you got a lemon... The only problem I have had with any of my Sportsmans is the Speedo quit working recently on my 500..... I had a Suzuki and the damn thing broke down and left me standed within 2 weeks - sold it and have stuck with Polaris ever since..... You really can't buy a bad ATV anymore so it all depends on what you are looking to do with it...... Polaris rules in plowing, mudding, best ride in the business, ok handling, best storage ( a bead of silicone in the airbox will make it waterproof), and IMO the best 4wd setup....Not to mention the 3rd headlight and worklights when backing up in the dark.... Hard to beat IMO

I'm a polaris guy but my official parts tester buddies break axles and the plastic rollercages in the front differential constantly on the polaris 600's, 700's. The brute force we ride has only had problems with the charging system under warranty but is a tough bike. The suz king quad we ride with has only had the 28" tires for a while but it seems to be a good bike too.

Great info guys, keep it comin. I am pretty much sold on the P700 but thought I'd get some info just to make sure. I am definitely going to try and test ride all of them before buying.

I have owned two quads. In '99 I bought a new 300ex, sold that in '02, in '03 I bought a new AC500i. I liked the ride on the AC but I'm thinking this time around I'd like to get something that is sportier, but I definitely need 4x4. My buddies and I ride alot in a sand/mud bottom river, sometimes muddy creeks/trails, and of course in the winter we get snow. Three buddies have 660 Grizzlies, two have AC500i's, one BF650 so no matter which of the three I get I will have the fastest/most powerful.
