Tip: DIY Clutch Puller
#21
3/4 inch fine thread trailer ball with a long shale and a large bolt or socket extension will work if you can;t find the fine thread.
Not all Hitch ***** are fine thread, but if you look around for a long shale one they usually are fine thread.
This is the ticket for clutch removal. It took a while to find this thread so I am going to bump it back up to the top so the next guy doesn't have to look as hard for it as I did.

What are you pushing the bolt against?
Is it just a housing that can take that pressure?
And is there some reason you would want to pull your clutch often?
I need to put on lighter clutch weights after I jet my scrambler for 9k ft so this will save me some cash!
Thanks

You are pushing against the crankshaft. The clutch is bound to the tapered part of the crankshaft. Just make sure the bolt you use to push with is larger than the bolt that secures the clutch to the crankshaft and put the bolt head or 3/8 extension against the crankshaft and turn the hitch ball in to the clutch. When it binds get it good and tight and tap it with a hammer. Somethings got to give and the clutch pops right off.

I don't get it. I have tried a 3/4 inch, a 7/8 inch and a 1 inch bolt and none of them fit. They are all fine thread. The 1 inch is closest in size, but it will not thread in even though the clutch appears to be fine thread too.
I was going to try coarse thread and metric, but cannot find either bolt locally.
Any thoughts on how to remove this secondary clutch?
