no spark on 2001 700 sportsman

bike sat and had to charge battery back fired and then ran I parked knowing the carb needed cleaning.next day I cleaned carb and put in new fuel.now I have no spark I pulled plug wire and put screw driver in and held next to ground with gap no spark
checked throttle air gap on hand throttle dont know what ealse to do I dont have prints even those will help

DO you mean 2002 model? If early 700 (02-04) check under front panel,says DUCATI on coil pack,this is the combo coil and cdi unit. I've replaced several,could be your problem. Dealer or other posters can give you stator specs to eliminate stator,or I can get for you at work. Good luck

Yes the front panel says DUCATI on coil pack and the sticker on body cover says 02-01-2002.I dont want to do anything untell I test stator or can get prints

If you decide that the coil/cdi is your problem I have a used one in my box of old parts. Let me know.
