you might be able to get a little more grunt and a sharper engagement from take off. you could even get a quicker shift out to get at speed a little quicker which all leads to loss of top end speed. most of the kits as i mentioned are to make up for for bigger tires. i just have a primary spring in my bike to help w/ the bigger tires and it works fine for me. now if i take the big tires off and leave the spring in, my bike tends to want to whelie alot easier lol.

Probably a good call. The clutch kit will make it more snappy and you lose 4-5mph off the top end. Definitely not needed if sticking with stock sized tires. If you do go bigger and decide to clutch it the primary is an easy job but the secondary is a pain without the right tool. I did everything on mine except the secondary. Had my dealer install it and they only charged me $35. Brought it in and they had it done in no time.
