Default 2004 Sportsman 500HO won 't stay idle in cold weather

hi everyone, i picked up this wheeler this summer and its been working great. Now that we have cold weather (below freezing), it won't idle if i let go of the throttle all the way BUT if i move the throttle 1/8" it works great. Starts right up if i move the throttle just a hair....won't start if i don't move it.

i've attached a few pictures, i believe it has something to do with the throttle...if i stick a piece of paper between the connection, it starts right up and idles fine.

(when i move the throttle an 1/8", its not enough to move the carb cable)

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!

100% this is the problem.Video: Polaris ATV Thumb Throttle Maintenance Tips | eHow.com

You adjust it from under the rubber sleeve on the cable.

Video says it all.

Need to adjust your throttle freeplay so the ETC stops sensing it as a stuck throttle.

just think, a dealer would've charged you an outrageous amount of money for that 2 second fix. now that's crazy ain't it?

If a dealer charged for that, they should have been run out of business! I fixed dozens in pick up truck beds and trailers that they drug into the shop parking lot and didn't so much as get the peoples names in a lot of cases! I just got a big kick out of seeing their reaction to what was wrong! Some just laughed, some were po'd that it was so simple. OPT

If I'm not mistaken, that same contact is what energizes the ADC as well. When my adc wouldn't shut off, even with the switch off, I put a small piece of electrical tape between the contacts and that kept the ADC from engaging anymore.
