My new DS has gobs of available horsepower, great handling (especially with the Timmy Boy A-arms) But, despite a 250 lb weight advantage, lets the Sportsman go ahead on the rough stuff.
Sure it will handle the big bumps and whoop kind of stuff better, but the Sportsman suspension, front and rear flies over anything it can soak up.
While the DS is beating me up over little stuff I didn't even know was there on the Sportsman.
So I adjusted the rear suspension, which wasn't the problem anyway, and am looking for softer shocks for the front, whatever they may be.
Why can't we Have BOTH?? Real performance, like the DS. Real suspension, like the Sportsman.
My friend calls it the "Predator". A Raptor grafted on to a Sportsman. Using a Raptor with a Sportsman chaincase/I.R.S./transaxle in its own bolt on subframe, replacing the Raptor's swingarm.
Why not? Of course a manufacturer's approach, at least an inspired one, could shave many pounds off of this somewhat redundant FrankenRaptor, But this could be done in a garage with off the shelf, or saved from a wreck, parts.
It would work, it would be great.
The marriage of the two. Power Plus SUSPENSION, no extra weight, equals real Performance.

fourlix,

You can have both, it just costs a ton of money to do it. Several years back I read about a Husqvarna 510 quad with IRS. It was custom made, but it worked like a charm. Personally, I wouldn't want to spend that much money on a custom chassis, but as the old saying goes: "Speed is a question of money. How fast can you afford to go?"

The AAEN long duration cam cost $259 with core exchange ( I gave them the standard cam out of our EXP which I'd already put a H.O. cam in).
Point is, it does NOTHING. Don't bother, waste of money, no loss in low end, no increase anywhere, I've never seen a cam that did nothing before this one. I left it in 'cause it is too much trouble to take it out, and I see no harm in leaving it. It is just like the H.O. cam as far as I can tell... So I have an H.O. cam for sale for $125, that's half what the AAEN cam costs!!
