I just sold my 400 scrambler but I have had the same problem with the left front locking in. You need to go ahead and buy a new spring that goes around the roller cage and also replace the armature plate. Both of these together will run you about 7 bucks. The armature plate sometimes gets magnatized and stays that way. I guarantee you this is what the problem is.
