I just thought the top end on a 2 stroke had to be rebuilt and they required quite a bit of othe maintence as well. Do they not? I'm still open to suggestions.

I could see a lot of topend rebuilds if you are racing and running the hell out of your quad 24/7.

Just keep a extra plug around and run good 2 stroke oil.

baseball,
about the trailblazer. very nice quad! i used to own a quadracer 250. my friend had a tb. i rode it several times. i think you would be very happy with one. they are quick, kept up with my 250 on trails because of the auto trans. they ride exceptional smooth, nice soft seat. as far a rebuiding, they are a 2 stroke, ans as you may have heard, 2 strokes need rebuiding every so often. well, it is oil injected, so you don't have to worry about mixing oil. alos, i wouldn't really classify it with other 2 strokes like 250r's or banshee's or even blasters. they are typically riden alot harder, and often modified to the max. from what i hear from people on here, they claim that the polaris' are very reliable, and if you keep it stock especially, i am sure you can get several (4,5, maybe more) years out of one without every doing anything but routine maintenance. the good thing is that if you learn to work on quads, with a 2 stroke, you can very easily rebuild one very inexpensively, for less then $200.00. and it will take you about an hour or less to do. its a very simple process. unless of coarse you blow it up, then you will require machine work to the cylinder. but bakc to the subject at hand, i think you would enjoy the tb. they are fun quads. and brand new you can get one for $2995.00 most inexpensive atv out there. unless you have your mind set on a semi-manual trans, then i guess you are out of luck with the tb. well, good luck

A TrailBlazer is a great quad and only cost's $3000. But there are many much better sporters out there than a Blazer.

Trailblazer96, so you're saying the 300ex is slower than your trailblazer? I used to have a 96 Trailblazer and then I found my 300ex that I bought used, then sold the blazer. Even with all the mods I had on the Trailblazer, the Trailblazer was so far behind in a race that I would need binoculars to see it. Ok, not that bad, but still, doesn't even compare. And the 300EX, a four stroke, is a lot more fun than the blazer is, plus if it's your first quad, you learn how to shift.

I have no idea which is faster in stock form. I have never raced an EX. But what I meant is that I like the 2 stroke power better than a 4 stroke. It has alot more snap accelerating. I find it hard to believe that the 300EX beat a modified TB. My TB is very fast stock. Was the EX stock or modified? The auto trans is a little slow off the start but if you hold in the brake and rev it up it takes off like a rocket. It has also been extremly reliable even though it is a 96 and I got it used. This quad can take a heck of a beating and keep on going. But I'm probably wasting my time even telling you this. I've seen your posts before saying that Polaris is junk. But at least Polaris still has the ***** to make 2 stroke quads. And Honda does'nt even have a sport 4x4 like the Scrambler. How do you explain that?

Trailblazer96, I know I've never said that about Polaris, but I've made comparisons among the machines we have. I bought my Trailblazer new in 96, put a few mods on (clutch mods, pipe, lots of Polaris accessories, split brake kit, and others) then found my 98 300EX in the paper, and bought it, so I sold my blazer to someone I know. It had a hair under 2000 miles on when I sold it, but I like the machine I have now better. I think it's great that Polaris still makes 2 stroke powered quads, since not many manufacturers are making anymore and Polaris is getting more and more 4 strokes in their lineup. My Blazer just felt like it was getting slower and slower, had a speedomer on it, could barely touch 50 on a good day with the wind helping and going downhill. With the 300EX's light weight and gears, it is easily faster, both acceleration and top speed. The Trailblazer's engine and the 300EX's engine have the same amount of horsepower, so I would imagine it is the lighter weight of the EX and the fact that it isn't losing so much power through the belts and pulleys that makes it faster. I like how easy 2 strokes are to rebuild, not having to worry about engine timing or anything like that. Suspension wise, the Trailblazer was probably plusher at slow speeds, but the EX rides better at higher speeds, the faster I ride it, the better it rides! I like the brake lights on Polaris quads, and I wish more manufacturers would put this on their machines. Now this is just a comparison. You have a fine machine that, like you said, holds up well, which mine did except for a few things, and gets you where you want to go, you like it, and you have fun on it, so that's pretty much all that counts. As for Honda not having a sport 4x4, I wish they did! By the way, I would buy another Polaris, just in case you're wondering.
