Yeah. If the valves aren't sealing properly you will lose compression.

Now I'm the one with a problem! I rode my LT two days ago and it rode fine. We had just welded the exhuast pipe to the muffler (sounds alot better and doesnt seem to smoke near as bad) and took the clutch apart to rough up the steels because it was slipping. It was running perfect later that day until today when I go to crank it and it jhust will NOT crank. I've tried all day long! I've checked almost eveery obvious thing. It has gas, the switch is on, the petcock is on, it's probably getting gas, the plug is good, I just don't know why it won'
t crank! Any ideas????

It's just a process of elimination. Does it spark? Did you try and flood it? If you kicked it a lot and the plug was dry , than fuel delivery is the probably culprit. Do you have someone else that can help you try and pull start it? Sometimes that helps.

hey mbrooks i got the new valves on and they make the motor fire much better, but it still does need the rings.
