85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
all smiles today. went up, and after i got a u-joint swapped in my truck, kicked life into the lt on the first try. got the nerf bars on as well. got to do a little jumping for the first time on the thing since i finished it. the shocks are MUCH better tightened up and i dont even have them all the way up. just a one notch up on the front and about a half inch on the back. man can i feel that extra power pulling up the hill. i dont have a very good jump up there yet so i did the best with what i could find. ill get some pics up tonight along with a vid.
a more fitting question would be how hard is it to keep the front down. lol
its tough in first and second. it tries to in third. i hang onto the bumper in first, lean over the bars in second, and sit forward in third. its a blast and the fiance had to cover her ears when i blasted past her.

very true. we have 3 220 bayous and i think theyre a peppy little utility for their size. my dad took our best one and we raced. obviously its no contest but we were judging how much i beat him by compared to previous times. i took 4 times the lengths on him this time, even with the taller gears. its unreal how wild that little 230 engine is. i couldnt stop grinning all day.
Turns out the shift shaft on my old Yamaha RT180 dirt bike is the same size as the QS. im not sure about the teeth, they were hard to count as the shifter teeth were a little worn. I just beat it on with a hammer and its good and tight, just had to make sure i had it where i wanted before i did...cause its not coming off without a good fight now, i hope its a while before i have to take the side cover off lol. the tightening bolt was even the same. Its a little longer than the old shaft, but thats fine. Im not quite used to it yet though, probably take an afternoon of riding to get used to it.
Also, took it out on the road with a handheld GPS, got on a straight road and let it eat for about a mile...top speed 53.1mph, i didnt think that was too bad considering it has stock gearing and the tires appear to be a little shorter than stock.
