Angry

I just put my engine in my quad about 3 weeks ago. It starts first kick, but leaks gas. I ran threw about 2 gallons in 7 minutes. Does anyone know why my carb is leaking gas. Also when i was doing about 30 in 4th, the bike began to rev really high and so i shifted to 5th but it still reved high, Why?

The float needle is not seating and shutting off the gas flow into the bowl. You can try cleaning it, but you'll probably have to get a new one.

If you do, I think I have the 265 piston. I bought the 260 kit and a spare 265 piston, but sold the 260 kit. Now I have a piston sitting on a shelf.

Any carb is metric, so it would probably screw in the hole. I'm using the round ones in my TM28 that came with hex. I know the round ones are in the 230, 250, the kawasaki bayou and lakota, and yamaha warrior. I think the raptor has the hex. Seems like most high performance or bigbore engines have hex, the little slow ones have round. Honda has Keihin, which is oddball to me since I have a whole collection of mikuni stuff.

No 2 jets are alike though. They may all say 120 or whatever, but they don't all run the same. I've even drilled the holes the same size in the round and the hex and they dont run the same! (the hex is longer) And that's why I run the round in my 28 carb. The rounds are shorter and seem to flow more gas.

Do you think this Mikuni VM28-418 Flat Slide Carburetor 28mm HP Carb will fit the 230. My quad is an 86, with a .60 over bore, and i have a cobra exhaust.

I was wrong... the raptor takes the small round jets.
