i started tig welding some stainless together for my new hood. but the heat is turning the steel a rainbow colored effect. is there any way to polish it back to the original stainless look?
sounds like your welding a bit hot and to control the warping clamp it down as much as you possibly can, also the discolour is normal for stainless just use a maxi pad or something but take your time doing it and turn your heat down, gold and blueish colours are good, black is bad it means you burnt the chrome out of the stainless.

The charts on the vault look great! The interchangeable parts section is pretty nice too since it seems all the axles and hubs I can find locally are off an lt250r. That being said I just purchased an 85/86 lt250r (straight) rear axle (24 spline) along with an extra set of rear hubs for $45 from a guy on craigslist who was just trying to free up some space in his garage How much wider will the rear end be? Am I gonna want to widen the front now as well?

I went riding one week ago. So i parked the quad and havent touched it since. I started it today and it started at a very high rev. So i tried it with choke and it was a little above idle. Any ideas ?

i worked a few nights on the charts, that way they could be easily followed. the 250r axle will give you 1.5 inches on each side. so it will be a total of 3 inches wider. i'm not to sure if you'll need to widen the front.

if i was you i would get a set of wheels like i got on mine to widen the front. its cheaper in the long run and easier. if you figure in the materials, the electric cost( if you do the welding) or the cost of a weld shop doing the work. you're prety much better off buying the wheels on rockymountainatvmc.com.
