Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

I ordered a 300ex shifter as I was told it would fit on the shaft, however it has too fine of splines and to many splines. The LT has a courser and fewer spline count of about 16-17. I found one off an old LT185 with the same spline count so I got it and will let you know how it fits and if I will need to cut, bend, or weld it to make it fit perfect.

So, I will let you know when it comes in a few days.

Default 85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.

Just wondering if anyone out there has replaced just the rear brakes or front and rear brakes with stock brakes from another quad. If so can anyone tell me which quads brakes can be used with little modifcation to mount them or if it requires mods let me know. Let me know if you got any info at all, casue any help is good cause the last thing i need to finish this quad off is the brakes.

I am not sure what will fit from other bikes, however I have a rear caliper that you can have to rebuild. The slides need to be freed up.

I am also interested in what other calipers might fit, my rear one was missing when i got the quad. Also if anyone is looking for exhaust i just picked up a Cobra aluminum system from atvpartsdepot.com for $109 with free shipping, cheapest i could find anywhere.

albung is correct.
The warrior caliper retrofit is a topic we covered in an earlier post. The caliper must have been pulled from the same line as the q-sports. After all, the sport did hit the ground first. Yamaha had to "one up" the sport with the larger displacment.
Oh, I do know that the rear pads from a wolverine have the same part number. But I suspect Ugly88 already knew that.

Have you had any luck finding a good tire? This is my opinion.
It all comes down to what type of terrain you plan to frequent. Mud, loom, dirt or hardpack to name a few.
Ground clearence is a key factor, of course tire size affects your gearing as well.
The stock rear tire for the 230 is a 21" unit which is re-produced in very few tread patterns. I know of only one.
One factor that I see very few 230 riders take into consideration is weight. Riders want a big tire for the mud. Big tires are heavy. The stock 230 rear was a 2 ply tire. The tire wheel assembly was/is very light. The extra bulk of larger, or even heavier tiers (i.e. 6 ply tires), will cause faster wear and tear on every part of the already weak rear end assembly. Axle bearings wear faster creating chain issues creating swingarm issues creating C.C.O.S. issues. This is however offset by more frequent maintence and part replacement.
Not to mention the already dis-advantaged (read as smaller motor) 230 suffers even more set back with the added weight.
So, not to complicate the matter any[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img], You will need to consider your application as well as tire weight.
But if it helps, Dirtwheels magazine tested several 20" tires a few issues back. They liked the least exspensive tire of the bunch for all there riding criteria. The 20" Turf Tammer beat out all the more expensive tires, including the legendary hole shot. While this is their opinion, you might consider it. No matter what you might read on these post.

Yeah I figured that out, and am putting the parking brake mechanism from the 230 onto My wolverine. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
