No, I'd like to have a set of works shocks! I just can't justify spending THAT kinda loot right now. I feel like its a big money pit anyway.... Maybe someday,,, after I can keep it running for any length of time ,lol.

1) 270Quadsportguy takes a hit when his 270 kit wore out.
2) Geforce's 230 goes down due to loose screws in the mag cover.
3) My 230 is down due to swingarm, bad rod, bad tie rod ends, etc.
4) Now PG had to top everybody and go out in flames!!!

It seems the only one that can keep it together is BigMc.

Hello All.

Very cool forum you have here. I must've gone through close to 100 pages of posts earlier today and besides the useful information you guys provide, it was pretty cool to see how you guys have formed almost a family like connection through these message boards.

Anyways...

Here's what brought me to your forum...

First, let me start off by saying that I really have no idea how these quads work as I've never really been around them much. I took a friend's quad out around 5 years ago for a ride but that's about it.

Yesterday, I purchased an '85 Suzuki 230 Quadsport for $75.00 after being told the engine was "dead" and it needed a ton of work. The kick start was locked up and wouldn't budge. Other than that, the body appeared to be in good shape and I figured why not! So I brought her home. I'm always working on home improvement projects and this seemed like a tough challenge.

Today, I took her apart and attached some images of what I have. Hopefully you could steer me in the right direction as I'm really only guessing at this point. I figured if the kick start wouldn't budge than something around there wasn't right so I took everything around it apart. .

I inspected everything very closely and to me, there appears to be no visible damage to any components, and it all looks pretty good. The only thing that looks to be maybe out of whack is this spring which is connected to the kick mechanism. Am I close?

Any help would be appreciated. (I have more pics I can post if needed). Thanks!

Thats ok, I love a challenge. Just ordered a new stator, sprokets and DID chain from BikeBandit. This chain has about 5 years on it. I figure the new one will be the last one ill need. Ive got my cylinder and big bore kit in the same box with a rebuildable crank and a new rod kit. I might even do something with them this year After that, new bearings for the spare case, and a short list of small stuff, ill have my spare motor assembled and ready to shoehorn into the 230ish. And I still want to do something with this 250 motor. Never can tell what might take priority.

welcome lasvegascar2, the teo main things i can think of is your engine is siezed, or the timing is off. jack up the back wheels put it in gear and try turning the tires in either direction. if the engine spins you most likely have a timing issue. if not the piston is probably siezed and you'll need to do major engine work.
