Of all the people that tell me about Alaska, only one does not like it. I never asked why I just let it be. It is on my list of places to go explore hunt and ride.

Hey JustRandy,

I told my machinist bud about motoman. He read everything on the sight and said he makes sense. I thought he might. The engines he did the machine work on for me he siad to break in alot like motoman said. He's goin to try to e-mail moto and see if he can get some formulas and other info pertaining to the porting more for trail riding/hill climbing because he says the info that moto has is more for mid and top rpm help on the hp.

Also, I can't seem to find much for nerfs to fit the quadsport. Know where I might find them? Momma caught me doin bicycles the other day and says I better get some. Haven't figured out how that'll make bicycles easier but maybe she knows something I don't. ( he said as she was standing right behind him )

Thanks again,
mmzuki

PG (PoolGod) or someone can help about the nerf bars. I have no clue. I know lowering and widening will stop many of the bicycles though.

If your machinist gets in touch with motoman, let me know because I've emailed him with no luck. I'm just curious. I would think high port velocities are good for low end stuff and not so much for top end (top end high velocity would be restrictive). In any case, I doubt you'll be lacking for low end on the 230! As an example, I'm thinking of putting a 24mm carb in place of a 36mm carb for more low end grunt on my 400 kodiak, lol. All I do with the thing is pull loads of dirt, so who cares about topend???? I just want decent gas mileage and good pulling power.

Hey PG, my bud decided to rebuild his 250s! We have it apart now and off to the shop. The rod is a good bit longer and the jug is a good 1/4 inch thicker than my 230 ones. Also, the wrist pin is bigger and wont go in the 230 rod. Must be 17mm.

Anyway, It should be a screamer when its done!

No idea on nerf bars.. It they fit old 250R's a few easy mods should make them fit. and I am guessing...

the 250 should be badazz, glad he decided to step up!

My 230 build is on hold for now, the economy crap is a reality in Cali. We have cancelled our August trip to Winchester Bay dunes in Oregon, and about 4 other camping trips, due to the lack of overtime and high gas prices... After 4th of July in Lake Tahoe, I am sad to say, I am keeping my azz at home!! Can't ride in the national forests, cause they are all on fire anyhow....

Wow, I guess its time to hunker down n weather the storm. Not easy over my way either, but I think a lot of that is more my fault. I've been seeing this housing crap coming since 2003. (.... a little early. )

We can't find a high comp piston for the 250. Looks like I'm gonna have to sand another jug down. He told me not to worry about it... any compression is better than what it had, lol. But, I can't let it slide. I need to know what that thing will do! ..... damn obsessions!

Strange there isn't a hi comp piston for that bike... maybe cause it wasn't made that long?? Speaking of which, why was it not made for very long?? Couldn't have just been the ugly plastic?

Economy.... I knew it was gonna go bad when I was getting the re-fi offers on my house of 600k or more about 1 1/2- 2 years ago... This place wasn't worth the 190k I paid for it 6-7 years ago!!!

Yeah, there was big time price inflation out your way. 3 times your money in 6-7 yrs is a lot.

I guess there wasn't enough people buying them in 1990 and they cut it. Honda and Kawasaki had already gotten the edge by being faster first. By the time suzuki got their crap together n got something out there that could compete with a mojave or a TRX, they alreay had a bad rep. They kept making the 230 with electric start until 1993 though. Electric start was more important than being faster than Honda or Kawasaki in the sport class. As a matter of fact, they got out of the sport-class altogether until 2003! The quadracer was gone too. All they had in the 90's was utes.

RANDY I have a question on your pegs, I notice that you do not have the stock shifter in those pics. Are the pegs stock, Mine suck, they just are getting weak and bending easily. I have a set of moto 4 pegs that are flat I can use one, but the 230 has two completely different pegs. I am also making a very similar case saver after seeing your pics (THANKS) I am very happy to here of your obsessions because I have always wondered what a 250 had and my budy will not let me at his till he breaks it.

I also have weakening pegs, and have considered how to reinforce them or replace with different off of different quad. For a shifter I tood a steel one off a mid 70's enduro and chopped, bent, and welded it up to work. It works verry well, a lot better than the worn out stock one even after i took care of the sloppy joints on it.
