Tip: When putting everything back together, use a little grease on the retainers to hold them to the valve stem while you let the spring back into position.

Here's the lapper I have. http://toolsandmore.us/index.a...on=VIEWPROD&ProdID=233

Its a bit big for the exhaust valve, but works. I wish I had one just a little smaller though.

This is the valve grinding compound I use. http://www.acehardwaresupersto...nd-p-69571.html?ref=42

This tube will last a lifetime I think. I've had mine for 15 yrs.

You can porobably find a decent how-to online about valve lapping.

Boy you hit the nail on the head there!

You know there are 500cc 2-stroke bikes out there. That should give you all the power you'll ever want, lol.

You could check out a 125cc 2-stroke bike. Those are a hoot! I'd love to stick a 250 in a 125 frame. Those 250 frames and setups are too tall and the center of gravity is so high... That's what makes it so scary. If a little bike gets a little squirrelly in a turn, you got a good chance of muscling it around. But a bigass tall bike.... you might as well grab the next tree! I would be in absolute love if I found a CR500 with a street title....I could then die a happy man. I think my next upgrade would be to an aluminum framed bike, my 89 RM is a pig its got to be atleast 275lbs wet and a brand new RM250 wieghs in at 212 dry.

The brilliant thing is that 2-smoke tech hasnt changed in years, so my ol' 89 can hold its own againts newer bike. Only suspension and frame material has changed

I need to find some riding buddies that can keep up, I could dust everyone I rode with on my 230(except in the long straights) the poor guys can barely follow my dust trail. I completely check out on the straights now, I need to get a "fly by" in my next vid but I think ive hit atleast 75mph maybe 80mph

Yeah, we weren't too stupid back in 89. I think the last significant advancement was the reed valve and the expansion pipe. The only difference is now we have massive computer power to refine engines a little bit more. But we also have more laws to control emissions, injuries, etc.

The only quad that can keep up with a group of dirtbikes is the zilla. It only weighs 300lbs and has all the power you'd ever need. It went 76-77 stock.
