85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
I don't know.... I have stock compression. But I have 246cc whereas you have only 229cc.
I know one thing, mine don't have the torque my buddy's exact same engine has, but mine is faster... even with the carb not running right. His runs more like a tractor. All bottom end. In a race I'll be a quad length ahead in 20-30 ft. As soon as he shifts, he drops back. I don't have to shift as fast.
Here's the differences:
Mine is stock 20yr old piston 246cc... His is brand new stock 1mm (.040) over piston 255cc.
Mine has the 32mm roundslide... He has stock 26mm carb
He has KN filter with no airbox lid.... You know what I got.
He has stock 250 head... I have ported 250 head. (We both have new valves)
He has modified stock muffler.... I got that driveshaft muffler.
He has 250 timing... I have 230 timing (3 degrees advanced).
He has 11/39 with 22's... I have 12/39 with 20's (at the moment).
He has stock swingarm... I have the +4 swingarm.
Everything else is the same.
Mine runs more like a 2-stroke, his more like a diesel. He likes his the best, I like mine the best. Its all in what you want I guess. I like sliding around curves and doing donuts... He likes riding wheelies across the yard all day.

Actually, I've been battling another one of GA's plagues and haven't felt much like doing anything worthy of posting. I swear this state is the sickest place I've been! ...And I DON'T mean that in a good way, lol. What's up with "sick" meaning "cool" or "bad" or anything good anyway???? The term "sick" just makes me think of something that happens after I drink way too much.... Or the way I feel now. Either way, nothing I would use to describe something I thought was cool! What next? "dumb"? If "sick" can mean cool, then "dumb" can mean awesome.... coz "sick" is about the "dumbest" terminology describing something desireable since my grandfather first heard "bad" back in the 50's I bet.
Those of you new here, I have one of these fits every now n then.... Especially when I'm sick.... er ill... whatever.... and can't ride my quad in 80 degree weather without feeling too cool... er cold... You know what I mean. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]
