The 250S has a longer rod, but not a longer stroke. The jug is taller to allow for the longer rod. You'd definitely have to do some milling on the jug to keep compression high, or else get a longer rod for it to work on the 230. Should work though. I think that's how 270quadsportguy ended up with a 272cc 230.

Ok guys, looking for some opinions. I finally got the old bearings out of one of my swing arms that I want to lengthen. the sprocket side of the tube is .005"-.010" out of round does not look bent, and has no cracks. Is it worth trying to salvage with new bearings and bolt?</end quote></div>

Hard for me to recommend doing anything other than what I did already. Maybe you could get by with the stock tube, but if you're lengthening the swingarm anyway.....

Also, how do you know the tube isn't bent? How did it get out of round? Its probably bent too.</end quote></div>

After I posted this I went back with a straight edge, and it is slightly bent toward the top of the swingarm, I do not have a measurement yet. I do not know how it got out of round, I am going to disassemble my other swingarm and inspect it. If it is good than I will modify that one. if it is bad too, I will have to try and fix one of them the easiest way possible. The problem I have is I do not know any machinist in the area. I will have to start looking around and then I do not have the stock to make a new tube.

Do you have a trade school or university in your area? They have machinists.

I have a technical college, but I think all the machining is handled at a different capus an hour away? I will have to check in to that.

Surely SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE around you has a lathe and is begging for ANY kind of work. Hell, they'd probably do it for a beer and a bit of cheerful companionship in this economy.

Well, with the dow at 6800 and no bottom in sight, its not looking good out there. You should be able to hire anyone to do anything for a song.

PG, given current developments, I fully expect to have to shoot some thief within the next couple years. I'm in that mode of thinking now. Too many people out of work and technical levels are taken out. We're too far gone now. So,,,, I'm building a plinker for target shooting and I hung my water filled bag in the garage for "working out" instead of "working on" quads. A guy has already come to the door for a handout. The next step is thievery.... And I get pretty sadistic with thieves!

I will keep you posted on what I find. Get rid of the thieves, if you set an example of the first one to come buy, I expect you won't have to worry about the others.

Does this machine look like it has an extended swingarm? Ebay Item

I asked the guy and he said that it does not.

Hey guys...me again. Ya know, I forgot about this little gold mine of a site I came across one day. It's some guy that runs a biz selling used parts from various machines, and has a lot of oddball stuff that you can't find anywhere else. He's up here in Canada, but ships everywhere from what i know, and with the advantage your dollar has right now, you could find some deals on stuff. I posted some more pics of my teardown...next is to yank the motor out, clean and paint the frame and suspension.

On a totally unrelated topic, do you guys mind me asking what it is that you all do? You seem to be quite up on the stock market and stuff like that?
