I'm having problems with my carb as well. Rebuilt it completly and now i have gas coming out of the overflow almost constantly. Tried adjusting the float to the high end of the specs and to the low end and still no difference?

I had gas overflowing once. Took the carb apart n cleaned it really good with brake cleaner and compressed air then installed a fuel filter. No more problems with that. Mine idles really nice,,, just can't get the d$%m thing started all the time!!! I'd never get another 230... even for free... Unless it came with a goki starter.

in the mean time while i come up with a a couple hundred dollars i want my quad to idle! today it was horrible at low rpm it would pop n cut out like it was back firing but not but when i hit the high end of the gear it ran fine...? i even took the carb apart n cleaned and blew out the jets. one thing i did notice tho was around the main jet in the center of the bowl the o ring was cracked up... would this be letting fuel where air is supposed to be? just a thought..

Sounds like you're running lean to me. Maybe your intake is not restrictive enough. Maybe you still didnt get the pilot jet clean. Run a piece of wire thru it. Could be your needle is set too lean. Check the boot that connects the carb to the head for cracks. Valves adjusted right? Got good compression? Look at an exploded diagram of the carb and make sure all the little o-rings are actually present on your carb. I know sometimes I get an old bike and many of the smallest parts are missing. Like washers under the needle, o-rings and springs in the air screw, etc. If you put an aftermarket pipe on it might be lean due to that too. But a stock bike with a stock carb should idle.

I just realized something, I never had a need for "Quadsport help" till I started "upgrading" my 230!
She always fired first kick, ran like a bat outta hell...... A lil oil leak occurs and "since I got her apart, I might as well......" That was in December! Golly I miss my girl! Knock wood, but in 3weeks(god I hope) I'll have new pics and a ride report.

Thanks for postin ya all! You keep the faith in me!

the moderators said the posts got deleted during a botched update. Can't quite remember what they were, hope nothing to important.
They also said, PM's probably got deleted during that time.

BigMc,,,, Did you get my PM? Very important!

maybe the gas there sellin aint jivin with the 230 carbs ????? mine running like crap!!!!poolgod make sure u check for clearance around bracket for clutch cable when installing ur oil cooler ......i bought a oil cooler at a local auto shop was looking around quad to see what was involved and noticed how close bracket was to where i was going to install my fittings so eff now im back to drawing board !!!! Aint it funny though that when my bike was stock ran hot as hell put big bore in and ran much cooler !!! As far as the starting of a 230 goes gota get a feel for it and dont be a pus my 115lb old lady starts mine sometimes with out compression release usually when real cold gota pull thingy out on kicker side and giver full choke 1-2 kicks it alive warmer i just half choke and kick 1-2 it goin once warm eff choke but when motor was not broke in i had to pull start it to get fired was like kicking a footpeg so might have to run it a lil and it will free up a lil
