Can anyone give give a short run down on what parts are interchangeable between a 86' 230s and a 86' 250r. I just bought one for $100.00 today non-running the engine is trashed no hope of a fix. The piston is pretty much seems like its welded to the cylinder wall. Bent frame too

Lt230sman, i will be starting the strip down of my 230 later this week and i will drop in from time to time to keep you and Atvman in the loop on the progress. i have the parts from my donar 230 all ready for prime and paint. Just wish my parts would get here. Dang blizzard sucked!!

I looked through the Vault gallery and figured out a scheme that is not only unique but one of a kind. Black plastic and neon green frame. kinda like Grave Digger. JUst to name a few things getting done to the 230 is new tires and wheels, paint,250s cam, plastics, chain and sprockets, cobra alumnium exhaust, and maybe braided brake lines. I dropped a grand on my beloved 230 in under 24 hours. By the time i am done my son will have a nice 230 to ride when he is old enough. I got a buddy of mine working on the frame for a cool price. Free!! He's bored and has no project to work on. I will begin taking pics of the process tonight or next weekend. Still kinda snowed in and waiting on parts. my car sucks in the snow and my truck is well sorta buried thanks to the snow plow driver.
That would look really cool. I love it when people make the frames stand out.

Definitely keep us posted with pics and everything. Also, if you're snowed in and bored, you can do some write-ups for some of the things you do for the Vault. Just look at the existing ones in there to use as a template.

Cam job, and brake lines would make for good articles! Even stripping the vehicle down to the frame could be helpful.

Also, if anyone finds a cool 230S video on YouTube, let me know and I'll put it in the video section of the Vault.

FYI for ayone looking for anything:

230 quadrunner parts
Man, those fenders look an awful lot like 230 fenders....very tough call. Mine were split like these ones were.

The fact that the look like they've been mounted lead me to think they probably are 250R fenders.

If the guy's close, it might be worth running over there and checking it out since they look super clean and are very cheap.

Use Bike Bandit to do part # cross references. The only one that I know of is the rear axle. Should be a plus 1.5" or so I believe??

I know we've eliminated a lot of the front suspension components like the A-arms and stuff from when I did my project. So you'll have to let us know what else works.

Yeah , i will work on the write ups tonight. We're about to get 10 more inches of snow over the next 24 hours. also i will be designing a ram air intake set up for 230s'. Its still in its early stages but should work. Got some airflow issues. plus i still have yet to design an airbox that will fit in the front end and figure out how to route the air intake tube around the head. wish i knew what horsepower i will gain if any.

Sounds like it could be a pretty sweet setup! Put those sweet looking slits in the hood to use.
