Ok here is a few engine upgrades that i have done, Thanks to Bashr52 for the ideas.

28mm flat slide carb
2 stage uni air filter
Exhaust i recommend DG Krome Power of DG Excellerator because its tunable for peak performance.
and i am currently test a ram air intake system
improve your oiling system ( a good engine builder should be able to do that, i did for my 230
Stage 2 Webcam stay away from Stage 3
Barnett clutch the kit (for the 250r will work great) from ebay or EBC is good
um i am sure i forgot somethin but i will post the rest later

I have looked at aftermarket shocks and they are WAY too expensive. The quad itself only $800 and one shock is $600 and I really don't have that kind of money. Now if there are other shocks that fit it ( and don't cost me an arm and a leg ) that would be different. I have researched about this and have not found any shocks that fit without modification.
alot of guys on here can tell ya if you want to waste the other quads in our class of 230s' and others like Blasters, warriors, 300 and 400ex's it wont come cheap. I have dumped over a grand in mine and i am still nowhere close to competition level, but i did my own work and saved a ton of money. big bore motors require alot of time and money for people like you and i it seems impossible. as soon as i find my gearing combs i will pm them to you. it will have the sprocket combs and what they are good for.

i will check on some shocks for you. i am almost sure a warrior rear shock works with really minor modification.

Also I have been looking at a Dial-A-Jet kit for it. Do you think it would be a good investment since I am going to do some major engine mods this winter or is it just not worth the 70 or so dollars?

so my 230 smokes like hell, like one lap around the yard and you cant see anything. planning on replacing piston rings as thats obviously the problem, it literally has oil spatter coming out of the exhaust, anything else i should replace other then the gaskets needed for re assembly? im unemployed and money is tight and i really want to ride this thing without smoking out everything and i cant afford to bore the topend, replace the piston etc etc, basically will replacing just the rings be ok??

yeah it would be worth it. it would keep your fuel mixtures really consistant.

sounds like you got a mess on your hands . have your cylinder checked to see if its out of round, then new rings may fix the smokin problem. as for the oil splatter it also sounds like leaky valve seals. either way its gonna cost you a top end gasket set. ebay is a good place to get the set.

You can also get a complete top end that includes a new piston and cylinder for $169 on Ebay. It is stock bore.

ive got a new set of rings, new top end gaskets, cant seem to find valve seals anywhere though? going to hone the cylinder myself and hope it works out ok, figure worst case is it still smokes a bit, anything is better then this!!! even smoking like it does the old girl rips, not bad for getting paid 100 bucks to take it away(bought it with a busted side cover from under a tarp outside for 4 years, along with a snowmobile. sold the sled for $200, i only paid $100 for the sled and quad!!!)

The Rear Shock from a Yamaha Warrior fits the rear of the LT230S. I been runnin it for awhile now. Even though the shock I aquired was a bit worn, it was a major improvement.

Warriors havent changed in near 20 years, so theres plenty of shocks out there.
