and rebuilding your clutch sounds like what you need to do. and make sure the clutch is adjusted properly. you want your clutch to start engaging when you start releasing the lever and when you are rolling down the road bump the throttle it should bout give you wishlash if it is fully engaged.

I have never riden a stock 230, tend to add a better cam right from the start. when i build 230 engines even if someone wants a stock rebuild i use a 250s cam because it a little bit stronger through the power curve. rarely do i use a stage 2 cam. and i tend to increase the octane of their fuel. right now my 230 keeps up with a KFX450, destroys Blasters, and even a couple 300exs.
