Is the 2005 knig quad cylinder a nikasil or regular steel cylinder. The cylinder and piston scorched on one side from low oil at idle after hard running. So, I ned to put a new piston and rings. Can I bore it and reassemble or will I have to re-nik the cylinder

 

As I have looked over the internet for anyone that sells an aftermarket overbored piston for the 700 king quad, I have found NONE. Unless anyone here has a suggestion, the only options will be to either repurchase a new cylinder aned stock piston, or get it resleeved by LASleeve and a new piston. ANy suggestions?

 

CP Pistons makes a big bore piston for the 700 King Quad. You can buy the complete kit through Millenium. They take your stock cylinder and bore and replate it for the oversize piston. Also includes the necessary gaskets, piston, and rings. The price is about $595 if memory serves me. That is complete with you sending them your cylinder. (+shipping)

You could probably get your stock cylinder replated if you wanted to go that route. I think it is about $200. Millenium can do that also. Never heard of anyone boring and sleeving the 700. You'd have to get special rings since the stockers are made for the plated cylinder so that doesn't sound like a possibility.

 

I found Millenium before I saw tis post. My dealer is going to send the whole thing to them and they guarantee a perfect, or better than OEM fit and finish with a lifetime warranty!!Will save me about $200 dollars over a new cylinder. Thanks.
BTW, I don't want the big bore because I don't really need it. I figure 700cc's is enough, plus I dont want to spend the money.

I'd take your cylinder to a shop that does boring and get a hands on opinion..
I think it's nikasiled and can be cleaned up w/acid.
Then just stick a piston in it.
What did your dealer service dept say? (hint) LOL
