Interesting... the "WA" in my username means "Washington State". Lots of quads on the EAST side of the state, anyway! Perhaps it's the Idaho influence? [grin]
Ironically, we bought our son's LT-A50 from a family in Olympia. So I know there are at least a FEW ATV's in the Puget Sound area.
I agree with the other respondent... the LTA/LTZ quads are the perfect size for young children and they instill a lot of confidence in both the kids and their parents. Your problem is the powerplant (and the CDI that controls it).
This may sound radical, but have you considered selling the LTZ and buying a used LTA instead? That would give you the same machine size and everything, but move back to the reliable and more-than-powerful-enough two stroke engine that can be tweaked and tuned to your heart's (and your child's) content. LTA's come on the market all the time. We bought our 2002 last year for $1000.
Just a thought.

Im from western australia (you heard of the crocodile hunter) that australia.
You may have given me another idea in regards to the lta 50. I might try and find one of them little buggers.
I can't believe there isn't bugger all race mod parts for the ltz 50.I think it was procom who told me that they wouldn't even start the development stage of a cdi unless they had 20 requests.Something like that.
cheers cobber

Hally,
I'll try to get some pics in the next day or so... Right now I'm chasing some potentially goods new for the Z50 owners. It looks like the CDI from a Z90 Suzuki will work and it will raise the REV limiter. I have some more calls to make and get my hands on one to test...
More Soon!

I've got the same problem, my 4 yr old rides an lt50 2-stroke goverened by the throttle and my 5 yr old rides the new ltz50 with spacer removed, we have a hill track and the 4 stroke won't keep up it seems like the clutch holds it back on hills as well as the cdi limiter ? I have removed the spark arrester and drilled the baffles which made some improvement but still looking for more. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, Cheers.

Cheers, mate! I just spent five weeks on holiday in NZ and Australia. Hobart, Port Douglas, and Sydney this time around. All it did was whet my appetite. And having an ATV there would be a dream.

I strongly recommend it. My son couldn't be happier. He lives for the weekends out at our lake property, which is where his machine lives except when we have snow.
